Composite materials made from natural fibres such as flax, hemp, jute and kenaf are increasingly being used. These fibres offer low to medium strength at low weight and are biodegradable, which increases their environmental friendliness. These properties make natural fibres an alternative to petroleum-based high performance fibres. In the automotive and construction industries, natural fibre composites are used in interior trim, insulation and a range of structural components. Other application areas of natural fibres are Geotech, Agrotech, Buildtech and Packtech applications.
