WGC stands for Wilhelm G. Clasen who founded his trading company in March 1919, which is still owned and run as a family business today. Clasen built up the firm as a jute trading house. Today business includes for example Sisal from Brazil and East Africa, Coir from Sri Lanka and India, Abaca from the Philippines and Ecuador and many more, as well as yarns and textiles made of natural fibres.
